Royal Botanic Gardens

Colours and life

15 years living here and I can’t believe I haven’t been to Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Garden.

If you are into taking long walks in the park, Victoria’s Royal Botanic Garden is definitely the way to go.

Not to mention the countless amount of different flora species you will see as you stroll through the park.

But almost 99.9% of the names are completely foreign to me, not to mention I can’t even pronounce majority of them without sounding like I’m illiterate.

There are also plenty of trails to follow so you won’t be lost.

There is also a greenhouse inside the park, but unfortunately we went during the late evening and it was closed.

But this is a glimpse of what the inside looks like.

Plenty of open spaces which is wonderful for a peaceful picnic.

You could also view the Eureka Tower in the distance.

There are plenty of park benches around and they have special inscriptions on some of them which was quite fascinating.

This is definitely suitable for someone who wants to escape the bustling city life without traveling a long distance to experience the zen of this public space.

Lastly, due to the vast area of the park and the smooth pavement and trails, it will be terrific for bike riding.

Lysterfield Park

First adventure

Too often I search on google, “popular travel location in Melbourne”, but this time I decided to take a different approach and take a random look on google maps instead.

Try my luck you know.

I looked for some big patch of green and blue thing on the map and it said Lysterfield Park, so there we go.

But before I embarked on anything else I’m heading over to Maccas for a cup of large cappa.

As I embarked on my first adventure with my travel companion, we found ourselves in a unfamiliar territory.

We have never been in this area before in our lives and we probably never would in our lives, until I thought it was a wise idea to “try it out”.

But despite the unknown, the weather was awesome (could change within a hour since it’s Melbourne) and heat of the sun was just perfect as the wind was slightly chilly.

As we continued along the lake, we found ourselves heading towards a dam.

I was tempted to climb on top of those rocks on the side of the dam, but my wise companion advised me not too…

I thought he was being overly cautious until I saw a sign hidden near the bushes saying “Do not enter”.

Fair enough then…

View from top of the Dam

On top of the Dam, we saw something slid across walkway which was around 1 and a half metre long. Almost like a snake, but couldn’t get a close up sadly.

Scared the living hell out of us, but I still wanted to see if I could catch a glimpse of what it was..

Only to get shocked by the sound of a duck nearby.

Fml..

Soon after the lake we found ourselves heading into the forested area where we found a group of wild..

Kangaroos

Yes, I know there is only one in the picture, but trust me there were a whole lot of them around (Don’t trust me then go visit the place yourself haha).

And I think this was my first time seeing one in real life and not on YouTube.

Somehow it brought some memories in primary school and I think the topic of burgers came up and what meat would go well with it.

And without a second-thought I blurred out “Kangaroo” only because I saw them in Woolies before

But every one seemed disgusted.

Wouldn’t blame them Kangaroo is part of the Aussie emblem and eating it would be mmm… interesting.

The adventure continues and I found myself holding on to an empty coffee cup that I had finished like 1 minute into the walk.

Throughout the whole journey I would joke with my companion every now and then to see if he saw any bins (in the middle of nowhere).

Bins were nowhere to be found,

But we found these.

Strange they were nothing like I’ve ever seen before at first I thought it was a joke like a couple of kids were trying to pull off something.

But as we went further, we saw more of it.

So curious me decides to check it out what is inside.

Could potentially be a insta-worthy photo so why not?

Thankfully there was no spiders (not that I could see at least), if the space was a bit bigger I would not mind spending the night in there (second thought maybe not tent would be better).

Further down the track, the trail was split where we could have taken a rocky wider path, but we chose a narrower path instead (living life on the edge..).

The bushes were high and occasionally we heard some noises and were spook by it (brave we are..).

Luckily no snakes attempted to eat us in the process.

Thanks to my high resolution phone camera, I managed to capture a close up of some leaves I thought was pretty cool.

Not bad.

Finally putting those money spent in phone camera quality into good use.

Samsung FTW.

Boo Apple.

(I’m just joking don’t kill me Apple users.)

After almost an hour we finally got out of the narrow path.

That is all for the day, we spent almost 3 hours outside and was starving our a** off especially my travel comp as he didn’t have much for brunch.

We drove off and enjoyed a stunner deal.

The end.

The Beginning

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – unknown

Recently, I have been working almost 7 days a week.

Which I am fine with, because I have a goal that I desperately want to achieve and that is to have my own home within the next 2 years.

However, recently I have been finding work to be getting more repetitive and I soon start to lose the spark that I felt in the beginning.

To maintain my focus and bring excitement into my daily life, I am documenting this blog to force myself out and enjoy what nature has to offer.

Even as a person who enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, I often find myself procrastinating lying down on bed with my phone watching on YouTube.

Nonetheless, I want to explore more and seek new adventures and new places.

I am creating this blog to remind myself that even in my currently situation life can be enjoyable.

Maybe if you find yourself stuck in a similar situation feel free to join me in my adventures.
